Beginning on January 8th the Women’s Wednesdays Program offers eight sessions of supportive and challenging ski and snowboard clinics for women, taught by PSIA/AASI-trained women instructors.

 

The Wednesday clinics are specially tailored to address each individual’s experience level and aspirations, from those beginning or restarting to those wishing to improve their skills on steeper terrain in every possible condition winter might serve up. Confidence on the snow is a necessary ingredient for improvement at all levels and the

 

Women’s Wednesdays Program offers just the right blend of encouragement, skill development and camaraderie. Complementary hot beverage. 2 hour ski/ride clinic. Individual video analysis of skiing/riding

 

Participants gather at 9:45 am for a quick self morning stretch and the clinics begin promptly at 10:00am on-snow. Advance registration is required, book by 9:15am before the lesson begins.

 

Ages: Adults

Lesson Type: Season Long Program with 2 hour clinic and hot beverage

Lesson Length: January 3 through February 28th

(Note: there is no program on February 19th during President’s Week holiday period)

 

Ski/Ride

Ability: All levels

Starting Location: Catamount Lodge Mezzanine Level

Meeting Times: 10:00am to Noon

Cost: $675 for all 8 sessions  (needs to be changed each time it goes up)

      

Full Description:

Your lesson begins with an assessment of your ability level and assignment to an instructor with a group that matches your level.  You will then move on to a quick refresher to make sure there are no questions, then moving on to learning new skills and honing the skills you already have.   

Ski Levels

Red: Never skied before 

Orange: Skied once or twice, cannot complete wedge turns; can walk, glide to a stop, turn in one direction  

Yellow: Can link wedge turns in the learning area; learns to control speed through linking turns in anticipation of riding the chairlift  

Green:- Learns to ride the chair lift. Learns to control speed through linked wedge turns on green terrain  *THIS IS THE FIRST LEVEL TO GO UP THE CHAIR. IF STUDENTS CANNOT CONTROL SPEED BY TURNING WE WILL NOT BRING THEM UP THE CHAIRLIFT * 

Blue: Rides the chair lift independently and comfortably control speed on all green terrain by beginning to ski parallel (match skis through the turn)

Purple: Rides the chair lift independently and can comfortably ski all blue terrain in open track parallel; learning to navigate black terrain. Learning to use poles to initiate new turns.

Black: Rides the chair lift independently. Can comfortably ski all blue and black terrain in parallel turns and using poles; in any conditions.

 

Snowboard Levels:

Red: Never ridden before 

Orange: Riden once or twice, cannot link J turns, can glide, come to a gliding stop and turn one way

Yellow: Can link J turns in the learning area; learns to control speed through linking turns in anticipation of riding the chairlift; beginning to link S turns.

Green: Learns to ride the chair lift and control speed through linked S turns on green terrain; can successfully control speed using linked S turns in the learning area. 

THIS IS THE FIRST LEVEL TO GO UP THE CHAIR. IF THE BOARDER CAN ONLY RIDE TERRAIN IN FALLING LEAF, WE WILL NOT BRING THEM UP THE CHAIR UNTIL THEY CAN LINK TURNS

Blue: Rides the chair lift independently and comfortably control speed on all green terrain and easy blue terrain moving out of S turns beginning to carve on green terrain

Purple: Rides the chair lift independently; can successfully use skidded S turns to control speed on all blue terrain; can carve on green and easy blue terrain; and is learning to carve on all blue and black terrain.

Black: Rides the chair lift independently. Carves on all all terrain in any conditions.
